Hi Campers! This is a new series in my “book camp” blog. Cali’s Cabin series will include stories about me, my secrets, my opinions, and some cool tagged posts that I want to try. You know, just everything you talk about during sleepovers with your friends.
I want to thank Wordhavenblog for the tag. So without further adieu, let’s start!
AUTHOR YOU’VE READ THE MOST BOOKS FROM
None other than….. Daniel Handler aka Mr. Lemony Snicket. Well, it’s not surprising considering he wrote 13 books about the Baudelaire Orphans. I thank him tho because his books are the very first ones I’ve read when I’m still a kid. I have discovered the pleasure of reading because of him.
BEST SEQUEL EVER
When I finished reading Harry Potter, it made me think that the story gets better in every sequel. It has the real “starting from the bottom now where here” vibe. What I really love about HP is the development and progression of the story. Sometimes book series can get dull as they progres. (But HP can’t relate to that ha)
You know me, just here, currently residing in middle-earth because I am reading The Hobbit.
DRINK OF CHOICE WHILE READING
Just water if I badly need it. I mean nobody got time for a drink when you’re so glued to your book.
E-READER OR PHYSICAL BOOKS
As you all know, I am a very picky reader. I buy physical copies of the books I know I will absolutely love.
FICTIONAL CHARACTER YOU PROBABLY WOULD HAVE ACTUALLY DATED IN HIGH SCHOOL
Perseus Jackson. I mean a wizard boyfriend seems so nice but if you read the books, Harry Potter might be one of the coolest/bravest fictional character ever but definitely not the pure-hearted/kindest/considerate person there is.
I’ll pick Percy because of his personality. He’s such a sweetheart. (Sorry Annabeth but he’s my seaweed brain too)
GLAD YOU GAVE THIS BOOK A CHANCE
Probably All The Birds From The Sky. I don’t read books with a rating below 3.8 stars. I always check goodreads because I have this philosophy that there are so many books out there and to waste your time in a so-so book is a big NO. This book has a rating of 3.57 stars but a lot of reviewers that I trust loved it so yeah, I gave it a try. It surprised me coz it is a very weird book but I still felt so emotionally invested with the characters like how?
HIDDEN GEM BOOK
This is not a test by Courtney Summers. As you all know, I really love movies about the zombie apocalypse. I mean it scares me because science experiments can really go wrong in real life. I’ve watch all amazing zombie movies out there. But this book is the one and only zombie themed book I’ve ever read in my life and I enjoyed it so much.
IMPORTANT MOMENT IN YOUR READING LIFE
When the book I’m reading makes me think. When I read those type of books I definitely learn something about myself and life in general.
JUST FINISHED READING
Circe. This book is so beautiful and magical. I feel like it’s written by fairies and their fairy dusts are all over and it makes you feel so entranced by its spell. (Yeah I don’t make sense sometimes)
KIND OF BOOKS I WON’T READ
1) the super cliche/recycled stories
2) books below 3.8 stars (haha)
3) books with an annoying character you can’t relate to
LONGEST BOOK YOU’VE READ
I think Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because it is 700+ pages. It is such a satisfying read tho, you don’t even know you reached the last page.
MAJOR BOOK HANGOVER
His Dark Materials Trilogy By MR PHILIP DAMN YOU BUT I LOVE YOU PULLMAN. Because of this epic trilogy I started a book twitter, a book blog etc hoping that I can find someone I can talk to because there’s no one near me that knows it. And I am telling you this thing played with my emotions like I’m a seesaw in a playground that is meant to be played.
This is the book “that launched a thousand ships” for me; I mean it made me start blogging and made me realize that book community exists and I want to be a part of it.
and it is going to be a tv series with DAFNE KEEN, JAMES MCAVOY ETC as the leads. You just don’t know how happy I am.
ps. I still have no one to talk to about this hello where you at people?
NUMBER OF BOOKCASES YOU OWN
One I guess. I just buy a physical copy when I truly love the book. (because it will be my family heirloom lol I will pass it to my kids and my kids will pass it to theirs lol)
ONE BOOK YOU HAVE READ MULTIPLE TIMES
i have never done a reread in my life. Sometimes I just go back to some parts of the book or quotes I truly love and that’s it.
PREFERRED PLACE TO READ
Bed I guess. But honestly anywhere will do. I read when I’m waiting for my milk tea or while waiting for my mom to finish her shopping. (I wish you can read while you sleep too I mean just sayin)
QUOTE THAT INSPIRES YOU/GIVE YOU ALL THE FEELS FROM A BOOK YOU HAVE READ
i feel like I started becoming a serious avid reader in my last year of high school. I wish I started sooner you know.
i also feel like being a picky reader is such a handful. Sometimes it takes me days or months of choosing. The process is legit like bachelorette (I don’t watch it tho) I mean I have to know each one of them, I need to pick the best among the rest and reject the unqualified ones.
SERIES YOU STARTED AND NEED TO FINISH
I started Percy Jackson and the olympians and I need to get it on with the Heroes of Olympus because I am not updated. I need to have some of that “Percabeth tea” you know what I’m saying. I’m thirsty.
THREE OF YOUR ALL-TIME FAVOURITE BOOKS
Wow you just can’t rank your favorites that is a taboo. I have lots of faves so I’ll just drop one book that everyone should read in their lifetime:
TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE.
This resonated a lot because I have philo/psych class in my uni. This book can make you ponder about lots of things.
UNAPOLOGETIC FANGIRL FOR
I am an unapologetic fan girl for “A series of unfortunate events movie” wherein they crammed 3 books in an hour. Many people hated that movie and their reasons are reasonably valid so I understand. But I just love the whole feel of that adaptation you know. The darkness, the wardrobe design, the actors (esp Jim Carrey as count Olaf is perfect for me), the setting, and Lemony Snicket is portrayed as an anonymous man, sadly writing the Baudelaire tales. When I read the books, that is the melancholic vibe I envisioned and the movie nailed it.
i really hate the annoying Lemony Snicket narrator in the Netflix series like he’s popping everywhere. I also hate how some puns felt so forced and not funny at all. And also, The Netflix series setting is too colorful and lively to my liking but that is their interpretation. But don’t get me wrong, Hands down to Netflix for making the closest adaptation to that amazing series. Thank you netflix!
VERY EXCITED FOR THIS RELEASE MORE THAN ALL THE OTHERS
I’m not updated with new releases especially because it is still not proven if it’s at least 4 stars worthy (I’m a picky reader ugh).
WORST BOOKISH HABIT
Being so picky. I read all genre but in one condition: it must be great.
YOUR LATEST BOOK PURCHASE
It is a book haul actually. I got Cloud Atlas, American Gods, dark matter, And unsouled.
ZZZ-SNATCHER BOOK (LAST BOOK THAT KEPT YOU UP WAY TO LATE)
My accountancy/finance books. I don’t even know why the hell I chose this field. But it doesn’t matter I need to grow up and be responsible of my decisions. (Adulting sucks)
